L’Ouvroir was founded in 1927, right in the centre of Brussels. Despite their often very serious disabilities, acquired either from birth or during their working lives, their courage and motivation has provided the foundation for the sheltered workshop as it exists today. Many activities, such as bookbinding and reupholstering, are still practised today.
