RUE NEUVE

The Rue Neuve neighbourhood

The rue Neuve is a pedestrian-only zone, bordered by Place Rogier and Place de la Monnaie and surrounded by squares and passages. It was the first Belgian shopping precinct, with a focus on selling clothes and accessories. ‘Rue Neuve’ is the busiest pedestrian shopping precinct in Belgium, with shops run by some of the largest international brands, in addition to City 2, the largest urban shopping mall in the country.

The rue Neuve in Brussels is a temple of shopping and consumerism, where you’re sure to find what you’re looking for. But there’s nothing to stop you having a wander around just to wind down and enjoy its lively atmosphere. The area has been designed like an open-air shopping mall where shoppers can find whatever they need in terms of clothing and personal accessories.

You can also explore the Passage du Nord – full of character with its special atmosphere and early 20th century-style architecture. Here you’ll find a more high-end range of offerings to choose from, including oyster bars, traditional tobacco merchants, artisan cutlery stores, high-quality sandwich bars and more. The architectural backdrop, the ‘Hôtel Métropole’ terrace, cinemas and bridal shops, an evening spent in Brouckère square or on the Adolph Max boulevard – all of these are worth experiencing for yourself.
