Brussels is the capital of chocolate — every Brussels local knows that. But which chocolatier should you recommend to taste truly exceptional chocolate? Who makes the best pralines? Are there still chocolatiers producing their pralines and other sweet creations in a workshop hidden behind the shop? And can you visit them? Do chocolatiers still work directly from the cocoa bean?
Discover ten chocolate-filled addresses over the course of one weekend. You will be able to taste pralines and other sweet delights for free, chat directly with the artisans, and at some places even discover the different stages of production.
Practical information
Before diving into the list of participating chocolatiers, here is all the practical information you need.
The event is free, but registration is mandatory. The number of registrations is limited in order to guarantee a manageable flow of visitors for the shop owners. To register, click here!
Tastings are available on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 March 2026 only, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. We recommend checking each chocolatier’s opening hours as well.
Please note: 1 registration = 1 tasting in each shop. Shop owners are entitled to refuse a tasting to people who have already visited their store. There has to be enough for everyone.
All ten participating chocolatiers are located in the very heart of Brussels city centre.
And now, let’s meet them!
Five artisan chocolatiers with workshops inside their shops
Discover five artisan chocolatiers whose workshop is located inside their shop, in the City of Brussels. In addition to offering you pralines or other gourmet tastings, they may also let you visit their workshop!
Arthur Amblard: a young chocolatier who has been based in Sablon since 2025, he is already attracting attention. Passionate and innovative, he creates high-quality pralines and chocolates — without sugar! Designed for people with diabetes or sugar intolerance, these pralines still offer an intense gourmet experience. And it works: the flavours are absolutely there. Try the yuzu praline or the sesame and fleur de sel one. Or simply enjoy an 82% chocolate bar for an indulgent dessert without the guilt. Arthur will also invite you to visit the workshop at the back of his shop, where he will explain how he reduces the sugar content of his creations.
Laurent Gerbaud: voted Brussels’ Chocolatier of the Year 2021 by Gault & Millau, Laurent Gerbaud is a passionate creator with a taste for the unexpected. He dares to combine surprising flavours, mixing sweet and savoury, spices, and exotic fruits, for example. He also serves ice cream and hot chocolate on site. For BXL Gourmand, you will receive a free praline. Make the most of it!
Plaisirs Chocolatés: the latest arrival on Rue du Lombard, this chocolatier opened its doors in early March 2026 (though it was already established in Uccle). Its pralines are simply beautiful, both visually and in taste. Whether you prefer coffee pralines, fruity creations, caramel, or other surprises, you are sure to find something you love. You will be able to taste them, but also watch the pralines being made live, twice an hour.
Wittamer: best known for its pâtisserie, Wittamer began its story in 1910 in Sablon. Today, the house has also developed a true talent for chocolate. Their chocolates are refined, elegant, and of course wonderfully indulgent.
Pierre Marcolini: does Marcolini even need an introduction? Pierre Marcolini is simply the most internationally renowned Belgian pastry chef and chocolatier. He notably won the world pastry championship in 1995. And ever since, quality has remained at the heart of everything he does. Marcolini’s workshop has been located in Haren, within the City of Brussels, since 1999. So you will not be able to visit it during Brussels Gourmand. But you will be able to taste a praline in their Sablon manufacture boutique (39 Place du Grand Sablon!). Refinement and precision at their absolute peak.

Five artisan chocolatier boutiques
We also invite you to discover the chocolates of five other artisan chocolatiers. While their workshops are not located within the City of Brussels, their craftsmanship can absolutely be enjoyed in their boutiques.
Atelier Sainte-Catherine: for the past 15 years, this boutique has been offering chocolates of outstanding quality, including those by Frédéric Blondeel. He is well known for prioritising traceability and the quality of his products. He is one of the pioneers of the bean-to-bar movement, meaning chocolate made directly from the cocoa bean. For BXL Gourmand, you will receive a mini chocolate bar, 1 homemade biscuit, 1 praline, and access to mini prices on hot chocolate.
Passion Chocolat: these handmade chocolate creations are already well known in Brussels. In the boutiques, you will discover a refined selection of pralines, truffles, bars, and other sweet treats, all prepared with high-quality ingredients and recognised artisanal expertise.
Mary: these beautiful boutiques delight tourists and have also been enchanting chocolate lovers in Belgium since 1919. Needless to say, their chocolate deserves to be highlighted. Today, the house combines tradition and quality in perfect harmony, with feminine draping, iconic boxes, and a glamorous style brought back into the spotlight. Their boutiques are simply stunning.
Elisabeth: this chocolate boutique, also present in Antwerp and Bruges, offers some of Belgium’s finest chocolates and confectionery. The founder seeks out local creators and hidden gems, bringing them into the spotlight through her boutiques around the Grand Place. The products are selected with great care.
The Belgian Chocolate Makers: finally, enjoy the chocolate by The Belgian Chocolate Makers. They also work directly from the bean and offer chocolate-making workshops as well. During Brussels Gourmand, you will be able to taste hot chocolate and mendiants from several different origins. Their bean-to-bar workshop will be open, so you can watch the chocolate being made live!
